Sports Desk, New Delhi. The account of America's victory in the T20 World Cup 2026 has been opened. USA defeated Namibia by 31 runs in the match played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Sunday. This is Namibia's third consecutive defeat in the tournament.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, America scored 199 runs losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Namibia team scored 168 runs losing 6 wickets in the stipulated overs. Sanjay Krishnamurthy was adjudged Player of the Match for his half-century innings.
Coming to bat first, America had a great start. There was a partnership of 68 runs between Shayan Jahangir and captain Monank Patel. Shayan scored 22 runs on 18 balls. Saiteja Mukkamalla, who came at number 3, contributed 17 runs. Captain Monank scored a half-century. He played a brilliant inning of 52 runs in 30 balls. In this innings he hit 3 fours and 3 sixes.
Sanjay Krishnamurthy also scored a half-century. He remained unbeaten after scoring 68 runs on 33 balls. Milind Kumar scored 28 runs while Shubham Ranjane scored 5 runs. Gerhard Erasmus and Willem Myberg took 2-2 wickets.
Team reduced to 168 runs
The Namibian team, which came to chase 200 runs, played full 20 overs, but the team could score only 168 runs at the loss of 6 wickets. Lauren Steenkamp scored a half-century. He faced 39 balls and scored 58 runs. JJ Smit played an inning of 31 runs. Jane Nicole Lofty-Eaton scored 28 runs. John Frylink played an inning of 19 runs and captain Gerhard Erasmus played an inning of 6 runs.
