Meeting of the State Road Fund Management Committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister
Digital Desk, Lucknow. The meeting of Uttar Pradesh State Road Fund Management Committee was held on Sunday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Chief Minister said that roads are the basis of the state's economic development, investment attraction, industrial expansion and public facilities. Therefore, all departments should give top priority to timely, transparent and quality construction. He also directed that old works should not remain pending.
The proposed action plan and financial provisions for the year 2025-26 were reviewed in the meeting. The Chief Minister said that the annual action plan should be prepared and approved by the end of April every year. Clear instructions were given to the departments that head-wise allocation should be ensured from the beginning and the items which require internal amendments should be approved on time so that the development work is not disrupted. He said that new technology should be adopted in road construction. Less cast but more life, such innovations should be adopted.
The Chief Minister said that the results of each project should be visible on the ground within the stipulated time frame. To ensure road safety and smooth traffic management in the state, operation of overloaded trucks and dumpers should be completely stopped.
Also, health check-up of drivers of heavy vehicles should be done compulsorily at regular intervals, so that accidents due to fatigue or inattention can be prevented. Strict adherence to safety standards will be mandatory during road construction and maintenance.
The Chief Minister directed the committee to hold meetings at least twice in every financial year, so that progress could be regularly reviewed. Also, proposals related to road construction should be received only from public representatives, so that the plans are prepared as per the actual needs.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister also stressed on prevention of overloaded vehicles, increasing road safety awareness and ensuring parking as per the arrangements of local bodies. He directed officials to ensure that road repair and new construction works are transparent, of high quality and provide genuine relief to the public.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that by completing the action plan for the financial year 2025-26 in a timely manner, there will be significant progress in the road infrastructure of Uttar Pradesh.
