In such a situation, by increasing the loan limit in KCC from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh in the Union Budget, nine lakh farmers here have also got an opportunity to smile. Now the small and marginal farmers here will get relief from financial crunch for agriculture and related activities.
If seen from the perspective of Uttarakhand, loans worth Rs 7,723 crore were distributed to 5,77,073 farmers in the current financial year. These include 1.47 lakh farmers from Udham Singh Nagar and 1.18 lakh farmers from Haridwar district. Now this facility has also been given in KCC that if the farmer repays the loan on time, he will now be given a rebate of four percent in interest, which was earlier three percent.
Rejuvenation of old gardens, promotion of walnut and apricot
A provision is proposed in the budget for the revival of old and low yielding orchards and to promote the production of fruits like walnuts and apricots in the mountains. This will attract farmers associated with horticulture in Uttarakhand also. Besides, this will bring diversity in agricultural products, the income of farmers will increase due to increase in productivity and new employment opportunities will be created.
Farmers of the state will also get sandalwood vaccine
The farmers of Uttarakhand are also going to benefit from the initiative of the Central Government to promote the production of sandalwood in the country. The provision made in the budget will now strengthen the campaign of the Herbal Research Development Institute to promote sandalwood cultivation.
Till now the institute has planted sandalwood saplings in various villages of Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Pauri and other districts. Sandalwood trees produced in the state get their fair value after 15 years.
Fisheries will also improve the economy
Uttarakhand will get the benefit of increase in the budget of Matsya Sampada Yojana. With this, while new fish farming units will be established, fish farming will also be possible in reservoirs and nectar lakes. Apart from fisheries, integrated concentrated value chains for dairy, poultry and farmer producer organizations will also be encouraged.
Farmers will get accurate information
In Uttarakhand, which has uneven geography, the multilingual AI tool Bharat Vistraan proposed by the Center will help farmers get accurate information about weather information, pest control and market prices. Besides, they can also be linked to various government schemes.
