Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. In view of the continuously increasing severe cold, fog and cold wave in the district, the district administration has adopted a strict stance. To ensure quick response to possible disaster situations, casual and earned leaves of all district level officers have been banned till further orders.

In the order issued on the instructions of District Magistrate and District Disaster Management Authority Chairman Savin Bansal, it has been made clear that in view of the winter emergency, it will be mandatory for all district level officers to stay at the headquarters. No officer will be able to go on leave without prior permission.

The administration has said that life is being affected due to cold and in such a situation, the readiness of the administrative staff is necessary to deal with any emergency. This decision has been taken under various sections of the Disaster Management Act 2005, so that there is no hindrance in relief and rescue operations.

The responsibility of compliance with the order has been handed over to the District Disaster Management Officer, who has been instructed to deliver a copy of the order to all the officers and also to give information through telephone. The administration says that the situation is being continuously monitored and further strict measures can be taken if necessary.
