Uttarakhand Weather: Dry Cold Continues, Frost In The Mountains And Fog Alert In The Plains; Big Update On Snowfall

Jagran Correspondent, Dehradun: These days the weather pattern in Uttarakhand remains dry. There is an outbreak of dry cold from the mountains to the plains. Life is affected due to frost in the hilly areas, while at some places in the plains, dense fog has increased the problems of the people. There is definitely some respite from the harsh cold due to strong sunlight during the day, but the harshness of cold continues in the morning and evening. At present, there is no possibility of change in the weather patterns in the state. Yellow alert has been issued regarding frost in the mountains and fog in the plains. Due to the influence of western disturbance, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in the mountains on coming Saturday.

There was bright sunshine throughout the day on Sunday in most areas including Dehradun. However, it is extremely cold in the morning and evening. In most areas of the state, the maximum temperature remains above normal, while the minimum temperature is being recorded at or below normal. This is the reason why cold is being felt more during night and morning. At present, the weather is expected to remain dry in all the districts of the state. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of dense fog at isolated places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar as well as in the plains of Nainital, Champawat, Pauri and Dehradun.

At the same time, there are chances of frost in the mountainous areas. Cold wave like situation may also occur in Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar. The weather is likely to remain dry in the state for the coming few days. However, due to the activation of Western Disturbance around January 17, a change in weather may be seen in the hilly districts. Meanwhile, there is a possibility of very light rain at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts and light snowfall in areas at altitude of 3400 meters and above. The weather is expected to remain dry in the remaining districts of the state. Winter is setting in Mussoorie, water of Company Garden Lake has started freezing. Mussoorie: Common people are suffering from the severe cold in Mussoorie and Yamuna and Aglad valleys. The night temperature in Mussoorie is reaching below zero. The water of Company Garden Lake has also started freezing. If there are no clouds or fog then there is good sunshine during the day, but as the day progresses, cold winds are increasing the problem.

In the northern parts of the city, especially Zero Point, Kempty Road, Camel's Back Road, Jabarkhet-Bataghat Road, Waverly intersection to Hathipaon Road, there is heavy frost, due to which two-wheeler riders are slipping and getting injured. Municipality President Meera Saklani said that instructions have been given to put lime or bleaching powder in the frost affected places.
