Jagran correspondent, Hajipur. Relatives created a ruckus in the labor ward of Sadar Hospital on Wednesday, accusing the newborn baby of being traded and sold. The relatives allege that the doctors and health workers posted in the labor ward exchanged the newborn baby and sold it and then handed over the daughter. During this period, there was an atmosphere of chaos in the hospital premises for about four hours.

According to the information received, Gunjan Devi, 25, wife of Dheeraj Kumar, resident of Islampur of Goraul police station area, was admitted to Sadar Hospital for delivery on Wednesday morning. Relatives allege that after about 45 minutes the woman was taken to the operation theatre.

After some time, the health workers told the relatives that the woman had given birth to a son and advised her to undergo sterilization as the delivery was by operation. After the consent of the relatives, sterilization was done, but during this time the newborn was not shown to the relatives.

After about an hour, the health workers handed over the newborn. When the relatives saw the child, it turned out to be a daughter. When the health workers were questioned on this, they were told that a daughter was born. After this, the relatives started creating ruckus in the hospital, accusing them of switching the newborn.

Uproar lasted for four hours, doctors and staff missing from the spot

During the uproar, relatives allege that doctors and health workers fled from the spot. Information about the situation was given to the city police station. As soon as the information was received, ASI Uttam Kumar Sharma of Nagar police station reached Sadar Hospital and calmed down the matter after talking to the relatives. The situation became normal after about four hours.

In this case, the delivery victim's sister, Kumari Sanju Singh, resident of Muzaffarpur district, has given a written application in the city police station. It is alleged in the application that after the operation, information was given about having a son, sterilization was done and tip was also asked for. Later the daughter was handed over wrapped in a cloth.

When this was questioned, the doctor and nurse disappeared from the spot. He has demanded action against the guilty doctors and health workers.

In this regard, city police station incharge Sikandar Kumar said that the application has not been received yet. Necessary action will be taken on receipt of the application. Meanwhile, Civil Surgeon Dr. Shyam Nandan Prasad said that information about the incident has been received. CCTV footage will be examined to investigate the allegations made by the relatives and necessary action will be taken on that basis.
