Security Forces Killed One Terrorist In Kishtwar, Two Terrorists Also Killed In Udhampur; Operation Trasi-1 Continues

Jagran correspondent, Udhampur. Security forces achieved major success on Wednesday in the operation against terrorists in the mountains and forests of Jammu division. Two notorious terrorists, who were part of a group of terrorists who were dodging for a long time in the forests of Udhampur, were killed by the security forces in a 22-hour long encounter.

A huge quantity of arms and ammunition has been recovered from these terrorists hiding in a cave. Meanwhile, soldiers killed a terrorist in an encounter that took place amidst two to three feet of snow in the forest of Kishtwar. The operation is going on to search for other terrorists hiding in the area.

According to sources, the two terrorists killed in Udhampur are said to be the most wanted top commander of Jaish's front organization Kashmir Tigers (KT), Zubair alias Nikku and Commander Abu Muawiya. Nikku was the leader of a module of five terrorists. Whereas, Abu Muawiya was active since the year 2023 and was involved in many terrorist activities. One of his comrades, Usman, was killed in an encounter some time ago. Now only two terrorists are left. However, the name or organization of the terrorists has not yet been officially confirmed by the security agencies.

The Army's official handle 'WhiteKnightCorps' said, "In continuation of the operation to search and eliminate terrorists in Kishtwar area, where there have been several previous encounters with terrorists in dense forests and difficult terrain, today at around 5.45 pm, troops of CIF Delta WhiteKnightCorps, JmuKmrPolice and CRPF in the ongoing Joint Operation Trashi-I, in Dichar area of Kishtwar, Re-established contact with the terrorists. During this, one terrorist has been successfully killed."

On receiving information about the activities of terrorists in Jagreda, the upper forest between Ramnagar and Basantgarh in Udhampur district, CIF Delta, White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF personnel launched a joint operation named 'Operation Kiya' on Tuesday. The encounter between the security forces and the terrorists started at 4 pm on Tuesday evening. The help of drones was taken to find out the location of the terrorists. The terrorists were hiding in a natural cave and firing. The security forces exercised utmost caution.

After a complete siege throughout the night, the cave which was sheltering the terrorists was blown up with RPG in the afternoon. Later the bodies of both the terrorists were recovered from there. M4 carbine, AK rifle, grenade and six magazines of both the rifles, large quantity of bullets, headphones, charger, scissors, knife and many other things were recovered from the terrorists.

The second encounter took place in Chhatru forest in Kishtwar. The security forces have been searching every nook and corner in search of terrorists for the last 20 days. There was a face-off with the terrorists in the Dichhad forest at around 6.45 pm on Wednesday evening. The terrorists attacked with grenades and started heavy firing. The soldiers responded strongly, in which one terrorist was killed.

There has been intermittent snowfall in the area for the last two weeks and about two to three feet of snow has accumulated. Despite this, the security forces are standing alert. There have been five encounters in the forests of Kishtwar in the last 18 days. Earlier, in the encounter that took place on January 18, one soldier was sacrificed and seven others were injured. After this, encounters also took place on 22, 25 and 31 January.
