Sports Desk, New Delhi. Pakistan has decided to boycott the match against India in the T20 World Cup 2026. Pakistani government has taken such a step to support Bangladesh. This India-Pakistan match will be held on February 15 in Colombo, Sri Lanka and Pakistan has decided not to play in this match. In such a situation, former chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi has given a big statement regarding this.
Sethi believes that the decisions taken by Pakistan can still be improved and Pakistan can play matches against India. Let us tell you that Bangladesh had refused to play in the T20 World Cup 2026 in India, after which the ICC had shown them the way out of the tournament. Instead of Bangladesh, ICC included Scotland in the tournament. Pakistan is calling it wrong and for this reason has refused to play the match against India.
Najam Sethi told the solution
Former PCB chairman has given a big statement while talking to India Today. He said, "Bangladesh can be called to play in Sri Lanka and I feel it is not too late. There are many matches being played there. If Bangladesh refuses to participate now, then they should be persuaded in some way. I hope it will be done wisely because everyone wants to watch the India-Pakistan match."
Sethi further said, "He has spoken to all the people of the country and from that I have come to know that the decision of not playing the match against India has not been taken hastily. Everyone is satisfied with this decision. The biggest problem is in the attitude of BCCI. BCCI is constantly threatening other boards. Earlier Pakistan was isolated and no one was with us. However, this situation is changing now."
Team India will go to Sri Lanka
Even though Pakistan has refused to play the match against India, Team India will still go to Colombo, Sri Lanka. According to ICC rules, India will get 2 points in a similar situation when they come to the field to play and Pakistan team refuses to play the match.
