Yogi government will give big relief to defaulters in UP, OTS scheme-2026 will be implemented soon
State Bureau, Jagran, Lucknow. OTS Scheme-2026, which will be implemented soon after the approval from the Cabinet, will not only provide huge relief to the defaulters but the development authorities-council will also get the dues of Rs 8-10 thousand crores.
According to departmental officials, at present the allottees of 19 thousand properties of the Authority and the Council have not made the payment on time. Similarly, more than 600 building maps are also outstanding. In such a situation, the Authority-Council is stuck with more than Rs 11,000 crore of penalty interest including dues payment.
If any allottee does not pay the installments etc. of the property value on time, a penal interest of two to three percent is charged by the Authority-Council. Since penal interest is compound interest, the dues increase rapidly and the allottees keep shying away from paying it.
In the OTS scheme being implemented afresh after July 31, 2021, since only simple interest (interest applicable on installments at the time of allotment) will be charged on the dues and penal interest will be waived, it is expected that the defaulting allottees will come forward to take advantage of it.
Under the proposed scheme, if the dues are up to Rs 50 lakh, the facility of payment will be available in installments in four months, while if it is more than this, it will be available in installments for seven months. Disposal of the application will be ensured within three months from the date of application by the defaulting allottee. In case the application is not disposed of within the stipulated period, financial loss will be recovered from the concerned personnel of the Authority-Council.
