New initiative towards safe highway.

Digital Desk, Gwalior. Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) is going to upgrade the Accident Response System (ARS) to provide faster and effective assistance in road accidents on the state highways of the state. A new version of this integrated system, ARS 3.0, which was started in the year 2014, is being prepared, which will be more modern and coordinated than the existing ARS 2.0.

There will be direct integration with dial 112, 108 and 100.

The new system will be linked to emergency services like dial 112, 108, 100, so that immediate help can reach the injured as soon as information about the accident is received. MPRDC will spend approximately Rs 9 crore 25 lakh on this upgradation. The tender process for this has been started. Through ARS, not only quick response to accidents occurring on state highways and major district roads is ensured, but a complete digital database is also prepared.

Information about the accident will be available through GPS, sensors and cameras.

The main objective of ARS is to accurately identify the accident site. Information about the accident reaches the system through cameras installed on the highway as well as GPS and sensors installed in ambulances and patrolling vehicles. As soon as the information is received, the nearby ambulance and police are alerted through a computer-aided dispatch system from the centralized call center, so that the injured can get first aid and quick assistance.

Meanwhile, between January 1 and February 3 this year, 502 accidents were registered and 4,117 phone calls were received at the call centre.

According to the data, in the year 2024, the maximum number of accidents occurred on state highways, where 3 lakh 85 thousand accidents were reported in the ARS system. With the implementation of ARS 3.0, relief and rescue operations in accidents are expected to become more fast and effective.
