Jharkhand Municipal Elections: Total 2,588 Nominations In 48 Municipal Corporations On The Last Day, 275 For The Post Of Mayor-president

State Bureau, Ranchi. On Wednesday, the last day of municipal elections, a total of 2,588 candidates filed nominations for various posts in 48 municipal corporations. Of these, 275 candidates filed nominations for the post of Mayor and President, while 2,313 candidates filed nominations for Ward Councillor. In this way, the nomination process ended on Wednesday.

Talking about the total nominations in 48 Municipal Corporations, a total of 6,979 candidates filed their nominations, out of which 3,462 are women. Thus, almost half of those filing nominations are women. In total nominations, 674 candidates have filed nominations for the post of Mayor and President. The remaining 6,305 nominations have been made for ward councillor.

Among the candidates who filed nominations for the post of Mayor and President, 41.98 percent are women, while 50.42 percent of the nominations filed for Ward Councilor are women. Let us tell you that a total of 674 nominations have been filed for Mayor and President, out of which 283 nominations have been filed by women.

Similarly, a total of 6,305 nominations have been filed for Ward Councilor, out of which 3,179 nominations have been filed by women. As per the schedule decided by the State Election Commission, scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on Thursday. Candidates will be able to withdraw their nomination till February 6. Election symbols will be allotted to the candidates on February 7, after which the election campaign will gain momentum.
