Jagran correspondent, Noida. These days, instead of increasing revenue, the auction of VIP vehicle numbers in the Transport Department is getting embroiled in controversies. The latest case is related to the most special number 0001 of the FK series.

During the online auction for this number, the highest bid so far in the state was Rs 49 lakh, from which the department was expecting huge earnings. But this expectation could not be fulfilled at the time of payment.

According to the information, the highest bidder did not deposit the amount within the stipulated time. After this, according to the rules, this number was to be given to the second highest bidder, but he also refused to take the number.

Similarly, many bidders backed out and ultimately this VIP number was allotted to the seventh bidder for just Rs 2.22 lakh. This number has been purchased by the owner of a Range Rover car.

Similarly, the same situation emerged with number 0007. There was a bid of up to Rs 22 lakh on this number during the auction, but in the end this number was sold for only Rs 2.44 lakh.

In such a situation, according to people, it is feared that there may be an organized game of fake bidding, in which genuine buyers are forced to back out by deliberately placing high bids.

Later the bidders do not deposit the amount and the number goes to someone else at a very low price. Due to this process, the transport department not only loses revenue worth lakhs of rupees, but honest vehicle owners also feel cheated.
