What To Do If There Is A Fire In A Train? Loco Pilots Received Special Safety Training In Jamshedpur

Jagran correspondent, Jamshedpur. If there is a fire in a coach of a train, the first duty of the loco driver is to light the flasher light and park the train at a suitable place, so that the passengers can easily get out.

Tatanagar Railway Civil Defense organized a training program at the Electric Loco Pilot Training Center on Thursday. Where 400 assistant pilots and trainee loco pilots appointed from Railway Recruitment Board participated.

Meanwhile, while giving information about the reasons behind the fire in the engine and coach, Civil Defense Inspector Santosh Kumar said that it is prohibited for passengers to travel with inflammable items like gas stove, cylinder, petrol, firecrackers and other inflammable items. It has been seen many times that passengers carelessly throw beedi-cigarettes and burning matchsticks here and there in the train.

Apart from this, fire occurs due to gas leakage in the pantry car, short circuit due to electrical equipment and open wires. In case of fire, the drivers have to inform the station master about the condition of the train and the coach which is on fire has to be disconnected from other coaches and kept aside 45 meters away.

Along with this, one has to protect the train from rolling and try to control the fire with fire fighting equipment. He said that four fire plants are available in all the engines, two in the brake van, one each in each AC coach, two each in the pantry car and four each in the generator car.

Apart from this, he told the trainees about Rule of Nine, Try Edge method, stop in case of body fire, drop and roll, getting out of engine in case of smoke, rescue and crawling method through mock drill. At the same time, demonstrator Anamika Mandal gave information about first aid.
