PTI, Kathmandu. Nepal's interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki warned that ignoring youth discontent could spark another rebellion.
Karki, who became the interim Prime Minister on September 12 last year, said that no nation can progress by ignoring the youth.
Speaking during the 76th Democracy Day celebrations at the Nepalese Army Pavilion in Kathmandu on Thursday, Karki said democracy should deliver results, protect the rights of citizens and ensure accountability.
Referring to the Genji-led protests in September last year that ousted the KP Sharma Oli-led coalition government.
“That movement demanded an end to corruption, nepotism and discrimination,” Karki said. It demanded good governance and equal justice.”
"The state must respond to this not only with generosity but also with humility and deep responsibility," he said.
He warned that ignoring youth discontent could spark another rebellion. There is energy, aspiration for change and moral anger among the youth.
