State Bureau, Patna. Industry Minister Dilip Jaiswal said in the Legislative Council on Thursday that Bihar has the largest number of grain-based ethanol plants in the country. Once the plant is established, it is the responsibility of the government.
I assure that the government will not allow even a single plant to be closed. The government will also make arrangements for the sale of ethanol. Ethanol quota will also be increased. He was replying to the government on the attention of Legislative Councilors Sachchidanand Rai and Dinesh Singh.
Members told the House that the production of the ethanol plant has dropped to only 50 percent. Many plants have also been closed, due to which the price of maize has come down from Rs 21-22 to Rs 13-14. Farmers are also troubled by this loss.
On this, the Industry Minister said that a delegation including the Deputy Chief Minister and Chief Secretary of the state has returned to meet Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri regarding the problem of the ethanol plant.
In view of the special situation of Bihar, it has been agreed to increase the quota of ethanol. At present there are 11 dedicated ethanol plants in Bihar which have an agreement with the Central Government.
After this, eight other ethanol plants have also opened but they do not have any agreement with the central government. Still, whatever plants are opened in Bihar, the government will not allow them to be closed at any cost.
