World Class Skills Training Institute Will Be Established In Patna, Agreement Signed Between BSDM-NSDC

Jagran correspondent, Patna. An important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Patna on Thursday between Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM), operated under the Department of Youth, Employment and Skill Development of Bihar Government, and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). It aims to strengthen institutional and long-term collaboration by linking skill development in the state with employment, entrepreneurship and global opportunities.

Under the MoU, there will be establishment of world class skill training centers in Bihar, association with international initiatives of NSDC, expansion of academy programs and establishment of mobilization centers at the national level. With this, the youth will be able to get industry oriented and modern technology based training.

NSDC has proposed strategic partnership on six major initiatives. Under the proposal, a world-class skills training institute will be established in Patna, which will later be expanded to other parts of the state also. A special skilling center for overseas placement will be opened in Siwan in collaboration with NSDC International, so that the youth can get employment opportunities in foreign countries.

Future skills training will be started for college students in collaboration with NSDC Academy, in which emphasis will be on Artificial Intelligence, Digital Technology and emerging areas. Besides, a group of value-chain based micro entrepreneurs will be created through anchor companies. Additionally, special training programs will be run in partnership with Sector Skill Councils (SSCS) focusing on ‘Sectors of Advantage’ of Bihar.

There are also plans to strengthen the skill development framework by linking the state with central ministries and CSR projects. Secretary of Youth, Employment and Skill Development Department and Chief Executive Officer of BSDM, Dr. Kaushal Kishore said that in the agreement, special emphasis has been given on micro entrepreneurship and livelihood development, so that the youth can become employment creators along with getting employment.

A plan has been made to provide skill training up to the Panchayat level and to start advanced skill programs for graduate and post-graduate youth. Special training will be provided in emerging areas like tourism, construction and artificial intelligence. Through this, private investment and industry based training will also be promoted in the state. Calling it an important part of its long-term development strategy, the government has set a target of creating one crore jobs in the next five years.

NSDC Chief Executive Officer Arun Kumar Pillai, BSDM Director, Planning and Training, Sunil Kumar, heads of various national level institutions, Additional Chief Executive Officer Hemant Kumar Singh, Mission Director, Bihar Skill Development Mission along with representatives and senior officials of various departments were present in the program.
