Jagran correspondent, Ghaziabad. A fire broke out in a flat of GDA Society in Bombay Colony of Nandgram police station area on Saturday. Due to the narrowness of the street, the fire department vehicle could not reach the spot. While extinguishing the fire, two people became unconscious due to smoke. On receiving information about the fire, people came out of other flats. Lives with Veer Pal family in GDA Society in Bombay Colony. Veerpal's younger daughter was at home. Other family members had gone out. The daughter also locked herself and went to study tuition. When she returned from tuition, there was a crowd outside her flat.
The flat was on fire. People living in nearby flats had come out. People informed the fire department about this. Other family members also reached the spot. Due to the narrow street the fire brigade could not reach there.
The local people themselves started extinguishing the fire. Neighbors started extinguishing the fire with a submersible. The door was locked. It was not opening due to fire. The fire was not extinguishing through the window. People extinguished the fire by breaking the wall of the flat.
It took two and a half hours to extinguish the fire. The belongings, money and jewelery kept in the house were burnt in the fire. Veerpal's son Dev told that he and another youth Manish got surrounded by smoke while extinguishing the fire. During this he became unconscious. Other people pulled them out from inside.
The fire department has fire bikes. Bikes are used in narrow streets. The department claims that bikes reach the spot carrying water to extinguish the fire in the narrow streets.
When a fire breaks out, the person giving information is first asked whether the street where the fire broke out is narrow. A fire broke out here on Saturday, but the department's bikes did not reach to extinguish the fire.
Firefighting bikes have gone out. The fire department team had reached the spot. The team helped in extinguishing the fire. The vehicle could not reach the spot due to the narrow street.
