Major accident averted near village Sadarpur on Garhmukteshwar-Syana road.
Jagran correspondent, Hapur (Bahadurgarh). A Noida-like incident was narrowly avoided on Wednesday late Wednesday near village Sadarpur on Garhmukteshwar-Syana road in Bahadurgarh police station area. Here, in an attempt to save a deep pothole on the road, a canter filled with potash went out of control and fell into the pond. During the accident, the canter driver and the cleaner drowned in water, but the villagers present on the spot showed courage and promptness and pulled both of them out safely. If the incident had happened at night, both of them could have lost their lives.
According to the information, Sattu of Hathras is a canter driver, who was going to Hathras after loading potash from Meerut with his cleaner Shankar. The canter was passing through the route from Garhmukteshwar towards Bulandshahr. As soon as the vehicle reached Sadarpur village of Bahadurgarh police station area, the driver lost control while trying to avoid a deep pothole on the road and the canter went out of control and overturned in the pond on the roadside. Seeing the accident, the passersby passing by raised an alarm and informed the police.
Hearing the noise, nearby villagers reached the spot. Without caring for their lives, the villagers entered the pond and pulled out the drivers Sattu and Shankar. Both were drenched in water and were shivering from cold. The villagers saved them from the cold by lighting a fire. Villagers told that if the canter had taken a turn and eaten it, it would have gone into the deeper part of the pond, which could have posed a serious threat to the lives of both of them. It was fortunate that the accident happened in the evening, if this incident had happened at night then help might not have been received on time and huge loss could have occurred.
Police and firemen reached the spot
On receiving information about the accident, police and fire department teams also reached the spot. Police confirmed that the driver and cleaner were safe. During this time, efforts were made to take the canter out of the pond. On the other hand, the villagers alleged that there is neither any barricading nor warning signs installed on the banks of the pond. Potholes on the roads have also become deadly for a long time. Despite the recent tragic incident in Noida, the responsible departments have not learned any lesson. If safety arrangements are not made soon, a major accident may occur in the future.
Police station in-charge Dheeraj Malik said that both the driver and the cleaner are completely safe in the accident. Efforts are being made to take the canter out of the pond. The case is being investigated.
