Entertainment Desk, New Delhi. Sara Ali Khan is the daughter of actor Saif Ali Khan and his first wife Amrita Singh. The actress often talks about the fact that her mother has raised her largely alone. Saif and Amrita separated in 2004, after which the actor married Kareena Kapoor a few years later.
Amrita raised both the children alone
Now recently in a podcast, Sara spoke openly about her strength, womanhood and privilege. When Amrita and Saif separated when Sara was 9 years old, Amrita raised her younger brother Ibrahim and Sara alone. Sara admitted that this upbringing changed her view of the world. This has especially deeply affected the role and voice of women in society.

While speaking on Soha Ali Khan's podcast, Sara shared her definition of a strong woman. She said, 'For me, a strong woman is one who is not afraid to speak her mind.' She further said, 'Today society has evolved and women have become more independent, but I think it starts from within. The ability to empower yourself, the ability to stand up for your beliefs and speak up for your rights – this is real strength.
I got the right to express my opinion
Reflecting on her upbringing, Sara Ali Khan acknowledged her privilege. He said, 'I have always had the right to express my views. I never had to silence myself. Even while growing up at home, questions and ideas were always welcomed. I don't know what it means to have no voice. Not everyone gets this, and hats off to those who live in a world that doesn't always support them.
