Aditya Raj, Gurugram. The case of construction of a church in Tikali, a village situated in the lap of Aravali, has put the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) in the dock. Even though there was not a single Christian family in the area, on what basis was CLU given permission to build a church? From villagers to members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, they will demand this answer by submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister on Monday. Everyone is assuming that if permission had not been given to build the church then there would have been no dispute.
According to the information, a church is being constructed in village Tikali by Delhi Bible Fellowship (DBF) Central. For this, about two acres of land was purchased five years ago. After this the organization obtained CLU from GMDA for religious activities on agricultural zone land.
not a single Christian family
The construction of the church started two months ago after the building plan was approved. Villagers are protesting after the information about construction of church came to light. Villagers say that there is not a single Christian family not only in their village but also in the surrounding areas. In such a situation, building a church is part of a conspiracy. Just as religious conversion is being done in many areas of the country, there is a fear that it will be done in this area too.
GMDA had refused to give CLU.
Sources reveal that GMDA had once refused to give CLU to build a church on agricultural zone land. GMDA had even said that there are no Christian community people in the surrounding area, so why is there a need to build a church? Not only this, GMDA had said that the construction of the church will increase the traffic pressure in the area. The villagers are not able to understand on what basis CLU was given later.
Former Sarpanch of the village Brahmadev says that through a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister, not only will a demand be made to ban the construction of the church but questions will also be raised regarding the grant of CLU. There is a possibility of religious conversion if the church is built. This will spoil the atmosphere. Several attempts were made to contact GMDA CEO PC Meena regarding this matter but could not be contacted.
"It is not appropriate to build a church in an area where there is not even a single Christian family. This is part of a well-planned conspiracy. The administration should cancel the CLU with immediate effect. As soon as the CLU is cancelled, the work of building the church will stop. There is anger among the people of the area. They are worried that further religious conversion will be done. The granting of CLU should also be investigated. Once the CLU was refused, then on what basis was the CLU given?"
