In the match played in Kolkata on Saturday, the West Indies team defeated Scotland by 35 runs. West Indies, who came to bat first, scored 182 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. In reply, the Scotland team collapsed for 147 runs. Hetmyer was chosen player of the match.
West Indies, who came to bat first after losing the toss, got a slow but steady start. There was a partnership of 54 runs in 50 balls for the first wicket between opener Brandon King and captain Shai Hope. Michael Leask broke this partnership by bowling Hope. The West Indies captain scored 19 runs in 22 balls with the help of 2 fours. Brandon King (35) returned to the pavilion within 6 balls.
Shimron Hetmyer, who came to bat at number 3, took on the Scottish bowlers. He started dealing in sixes and hit sixes one after another. Rovman Powell also supported Hetmyer and together they increased the run rate rapidly. Hetmyer and Powell together added 81 runs in 37 balls.
