Will the stock market open today or not?

New Delhi. Indian stock markets will remain closed on Monday 26 January on the occasion of Republic Day. Trading on both NSE and BSE will remain closed for the entire day. There will be no activity in all segments including equity, equity derivatives, currency derivatives and interest rate derivatives. Apart from this, commodity markets will also remain closed for the whole day. The Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) will also be closed for both morning and evening sessions on Republic Day, which means there will be no trading in metals, energy or agriculture commodities throughout the day.

When will the stock market open?

After today's holiday, trading will resume as normal in all segments on Tuesday, January 27. Republic Day is the second holiday of the calendar year in the list of stock market holidays for the year 2026. Indian exchanges will remain closed for a total of 16 days throughout the year, which includes both national and religious occasions.

When will the stock market be closed now?

After Republic Day on January 26, the markets will remain closed for Holi on March 3, followed by Ram Navami on March 26 and Mahavir Jayanti on March 31. In April, markets will remain closed on Good Friday on 3 April and Ambedkar Jayanti on 14 April, while there will be trading holiday on Maharashtra Day on 1 May.

Note – Independence Day is falling on a weekend in August 15, 2026. As a result, there will be no additional market closures on that date in addition to the regular weekend break.
