Salman Ali said a big thing on changes in Pakistan team
PTI, Karachi: Pakistan T20 captain Salman Ali Aga ruled out any major changes in his squad for the men's T20 World Cup early next year and said the team has improved significantly over the past few months after players were assigned their specific roles.
After the defeat by India in the final of Asia Cup this year, Pakistan made major changes by including Abdul Samad, Babar Azam, Usman Khan and Naseem Shah in the team. Pakistan then defeated South Africa in a three-match T20 series at home and then won the tri-series with Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka last month.
Roles given to players
Salman said on the podcast of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that I do not see any major changes in the national T20 team before the World Cup. I think our current combination will remain intact in the World Cup also. Over the last few months, each player has been given some specific role and the team's performance has improved since then.
Pakistan has to play six T20 matches before the World Cup. The World Cup will be played jointly between India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8 next year. Salman said that it would be difficult to make major changes due to the limited number of matches.
