Digital Desk, New Delhi. A strange case has come to light in Mumbai, where a woman lost a 17-year-old case against her first husband due to the testimony of her second husband. The woman filed a lawsuit in 2009 accusing her husband of torturing her for years, demanding maintenance from him and claiming she had been thrown out of the house.

The court, while giving its verdict in favor of the woman, had ordered a monthly maintenance allowance of Rs 3200. This order was applicable till the final order of the court.

When there was a new twist in the case

A new twist came in this case when the woman's second husband came to the court and confessed that both of them were legally married. She told that both of them got married after the divorce of her first husband. As soon as the husband's testimony came, the lawyer appearing for the defense argued that if the woman is married then how can she ask for maintenance. She is not entitled to maintenance.

The Boribali court accepted the defense's argument and ruled that she was not entitled to maintenance after the marriage was ratified by her current husband.
