Due to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign of voter list, the functioning of most of the revenue courts of the district has almost come to a standstill for the last two months. From Naib Tehsildar, Tehsildar, Sub-District Magistrate (SDM), Additional District Magistrate (ADM) to District Magistrate (DM), all the officers are busy in the responsibilities related to SIR campaign, due to which regular hearings are not being held in their courts. During this period, in most of the cases only the next date is being given. Now hearings will be held in these courts only in the new year.
Litigants are facing a lot of trouble due to stalled hearing of revenue cases. Abhay Shahi of Rustampur says that he had bought a small plot in Khorabar. Have to build a house. But, the filing-dismissal is pending. Madhav Shukla of Shahpur is searching for his inheritance. Madhav says three dates have already been fixed.
This is an example. Hundreds of people have been getting date after date for the last two months in the name of decision in land related disputes, possession, transfer, inheritance, measurement and other revenue matters. On reaching the courts, they are being informed that the officials are busy with election work and a new date will be given for the hearing. Due to this, people have to make repeated rounds of Tehsil and Collectorate.

On the other hand, according to officials, SIR campaign is an important program of the Election Commission, in which the work of purifying and updating the voter list is being done. Due to the deployment of almost all the revenue officers of the district in this campaign, the court work was affected. However, the administration says that this situation is temporary and regular operation of the court will be started as soon as the campaign ends.
According to sources, regular hearings are likely to start in revenue courts after December 26. In the new year, instructions can be given to dispose of the pending cases on priority basis, so that the affected litigants can get relief soon. At present, the eyes of the complainants are fixed on the court getting back on track after December 26, so that the hearing in the long pending cases can proceed.
