Jagran correspondent, outer Delhi. A worker died after falling into an open DDA drain along the road in Rohini Sector-32. The youth has been identified as 23-year-old Birju Kumar. Who was coming to the construction site from Rohini on foot on Monday with his friend Suraj. Then he fell into this drain. Suraj told the police that he was in an intoxicated state, hence he could not get information about Birju falling into the drain.
First told the kidnapping and then told the whole truth
On being asked by other people on Tuesday, Suraj first told about kidnapping of the deceased and then expressed suspicion that he had fallen into the drain. After which this information was given to the police and fire department. After a five-hour search operation on Tuesday, Birju's body was recovered from the drain at 9 pm. Begumpur police station is taking further action in this case by interrogating the deceased's friend Suraj.
Birju not visible on the site
According to the information, Birju was a resident of Sadipur, Badnaha in Samastipur district of Bihar. Here Rohini used to work as a laborer in an under construction building located in Sector-32. Suraj lived with other employees at the construction site itself. Suraj told that he had left with Birju at around eight o'clock on Monday night. He was drunk, he was walking ahead, Birju was following him. After reaching the site, I saw that Birju was not there.
Said-maybe he has fallen into the drain
At the same time, when asked by the contractor present at the construction site, Suraj first told about her kidnapping. Later he told that he might have fallen into the drain. After which everyone reached near the drain, but nothing could be found there either. Gave this information to the police. The police started the work of removing water from the drain with the super shaker machine. After which the fire brigade team reached here. After a joint operation, the young man could be pulled out of the drain after five hours.
The drain is about six feet deep
Friends of the deceased told that the DDA had constructed the drain only a few months ago. Slabs have been placed at many places on the drain about six feet deep, but at many places slabs were not placed at all. If there had been a slab on the drain, perhaps Birju's life would have been saved.
DDA covered drains after the accident
As soon as DDA employees got information about the accident, they quickly reached the spot with the slabs. Then the work of covering the open drains started.
