Working style in the dock due to 'February 30' being written in IGRS reply

Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. The question of how serious the complaint redressal process is was raised when the date of disposal in a case registered on IGRS was written as 30th February. Whereas it is well known that there are 28 days in the month of February (29 in leap years). As soon as this answer came out, not only did the problems of the victim increase, but questions were also raised on the working style of the system.

The matter is of Campierganj area. Syeda Khatoon, a resident of Leopard Vishambharpur, had given an application alleging that Karimullah, a resident of Campierganj, had taken her jewelery and was not returning it. The victim first complained to the SSP, after which the case was uploaded on the IGRS portal. From the IGRS, the case was sent to the concerned police station, where the investigation was handed over to Sub-Inspector Ashish Chaudhary.

It was mentioned in the investigation report that the case would be settled by mutual agreement on February 30. The investigating officer wrote a date which is outside the calendar. When the matter came to the notice of the officials, it was termed as a scribal error and it was said that instead of January 30, 'February 30' was written in the report. The items have been returned to the victim. What is IGRS? IGRS (Integrated Grievance Redressal System) is an online system of the Uttar Pradesh government, through which common citizens can directly send their complaints to the officials. Its objective is that public problems can be resolved within the stipulated time frame, in a transparent and accountable manner.

Every complaint registered on the IGRS portal is given a unique number, through which the complainant can see at what stage his complaint is pending and what action has been taken on it.

Generally the time limit for disposal is fixed within 7 to 15 days. If the complainant is not satisfied with the response, he can file a complaint again by giving feedback, on which the matter reaches the higher authorities.

An error has come to light regarding the date in the disposal of the complaint registered on IGRS. Investigation revealed that the victim's complaint had been resolved in a legal manner. In the report, instead of January 30, 'February 30' was mistakenly written.
