Jagran correspondent, Aurangabad. Before the Chief Minister's Pragati Yatra, the administration has increased the pace of land acquisition for the construction of the proposed ring road and four-lane road in Dev block of the district.
As soon as the notification was issued by the District Officer, the District Land Acquisition Office made public the complete details related to the acquisition.
Under this, about 25 acres of land is to be acquired for the ring road and about seven acres of land for the four-lane bypass. Land of about 270 farmers has been identified in the Ring Road project.

The project includes villages Deo, Chaturbigha, Dattubigha, Tilauta Bigha, Bhatbigha, Barai Bigha, Balapokhar, Bhawanipur, Bamhauri, Silad Khurd, Kumhar Bigha and Dhamoul. This ring road, to be built at a cost of Rs 46.61 crore, will be about nine kilometers long.
More than Rs 10 crore spent on one kilometer four lane
Rs 10.06 crore will be spent on the construction of about one kilometer long four lane road. This road will be connected to State Highway-101 being built from Suryakund pond.
For both the projects, the Road Construction Department has completed the tender process and allotted the work to the contractor, but due to delay in land acquisition, the construction has not started yet.
Farmers protest intensifies on compensation rate
There is dissatisfaction among farmers regarding the compensation rate. Farmers of other villages including Bhawanipur say that the compensation has been fixed by considering the land on the roadside and Nagar Panchayat area as agricultural, whereas they are demanding to include it in the commercial and residential category.
Farmers allege that by canceling the report of the zonal office, all the land was declared agricultural and cultivable, due to which they will get less compensation.
Confusion over Bakasht and Garmajrua land
Some farmers have Bakasht and Garmajrua land in their possession, but due to the names of the tenants not being clear, the situation regarding compensation payment is not clear. At present, there is no possibility of getting compensation on such land.
What does the District Land Acquisition Officer say?
According to District Land Acquisition Officer Upendra Pandit, clear instructions have not yet been received from the government regarding compensation for Bakasht and Garamajrua land.
On the basis of site inspection, the category of the land will be decided and compensation will be given accordingly. The administration claims that the acquisition process for both the road projects is being completed rapidly.
