State Bureau, Lucknow. 40.19 lakh new voters have been added in the Voter List Major Revision-2025 campaign of three-tier Panchayat elections. Now the total number of voters in the state has increased to 12.69 crore. The total voters in the year 2021 were 12.29 crores. In the revision, 1.41 crore names were deleted and 1.81 crore names were added due to various reasons. The voter list for claims and objections will be published on December 23.
The final publication of the list will take place on February 6. This time the voter is being given State Voter Number (SVN), which will become his permanent identity in Panchayat elections. State Election Commissioner Raj Pratap Singh told in the press conference on Thursday that about 15 lakh of the new voters are of 18 years of age.
The total number of voters in the age group of 18 to 23 years is 1.05 crore. He said that before starting the revision, 12.29 crore voters included in the voter list for the year 2021 were allotted state voter numbers this time. For the first time, voter identification was done door-to-door through the EBLO app. Voters whose names were found more than once were deleted.
Names of 1,31,22,867 voters were added, 16,46,232 were modified and names of 72,42,565 were deleted from the app, which is about 64 percent of the total work. Those who did not know how to work on the BLO app, did the work of revision from the calculation form. The Commissioner said that there were 90,76,015 duplicate voters whose names were found twice or thrice. 2,27,33,769 such cases were identified and verified. After verification, names of 53,67,410 voters were removed, which is 39 percent of the total removed voters. He informed that Face Recognition System (FRS) will be used in the first Panchayat elections.
In this, the voter's photo will be taken on the spot through the mobile app and uploaded. After this he will not be able to vote anywhere else. It has been tested, it takes 30 seconds to upload a photo. This will stop fake voting.
SVN will become the identity of voters
State Voter Number (SVN) will be allotted only once to any voter. In the alphanumeric (mixture of letters and numbers) code, the first three characters will be the code of the corresponding block, followed by female (M) or male (F). After this there will be the voter number with two letters. The number once allotted will not be given to anyone else. The number of someone who is deleted from the voter list will be frozen. After February 6, new numbers will be allotted to the increased number of voters.
