State Bureau, Lucknow. Encouraged by the huge victory in Bihar assembly elections, BJP has fielded a jumbo team in the battle of Bengal also. In the Uttar Pradesh government, faces ranging from ministers to those with organizational knowledge have been sent to Bengal to create electoral ground.
The party has divided the state into six regions from the electoral point of view, out of which three are headed by Government Minister JPS Rathore, former Cabinet Minister Suresh Rana and Uttarakhand Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat. Organization General Secretaries of each state have also been appointed along with them.
The party has given the responsibility of 47 assembly seats out of 244 to the faces of UP. Bengal elections have become a tough question for BJP. The eyes of the entire country are fixed on the election results here.
Seeing the deep understanding of the organization of JPS Rathore, who was the state general secretary in Uttar Pradesh for a long time, the party sent him to Bengal in October. He is handling the responsibility of Kolkata South. He was here also in the last assembly elections.
Suresh Rana, former Sugarcane Development Minister and State Vice President, is taking charge of Kolkata North. Earlier, the party had also given him the responsibility of important seats in the Haryana Assembly elections.
The faces of UP are holding the charge of five out of 44 districts of the state, which include Minister of State with Independent Charge Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu, Minister of State Dinesh Khatik, Sanjay Gangwar, former MP Ajay Mishra Teni and Subrata Pathak. Pathak has the responsibility of Hooghly where there is no BJP MLA on seven assembly seats.
However, he has been a BJP MP from here in 2019. Former minister Swati Singh is looking after Bihala seat in Kolkata South, Upendra Tiwari is looking after Sankrail seat of Howrah Town and Anand Shukla is looking after Habra seat.
MLC Dharmendra Bhardwaj from Meerut-Ghaziabad region is camping in Jagatdal constituency of Barrackpur district and MLC Arun Pathak from Kanpur is camping in Naihati seat. Apart from this, faces from district, area and state level organizations have also been sent to Bengal.
