Nigerian citizen in police custody.
Jagran correspondent, South Delhi. The police has achieved great success under the Operation Clean Sweep being run against drug smuggling and illegal immigrants in Dwarka district of Delhi. The Anti-Narcotics Cell of the district police has arrested 7 Nigerian nationals from Uttam Nagar area, who were staying in India illegally even after the expiry of their visa period.
As per the instructions of DCP Ankit Singh, a special campaign is being conducted to crack down on foreign nationals and drug smugglers living illegally in the district. In this series, under the supervision of Inspector Subhash Chand, in-charge of Anti-Narcotics Cell, the police team was patrolling and gathering intelligence in Uttam Nagar area. On December 24, the team stopped seven foreign nationals roaming suspiciously in the area and demanded their travel documents.
Upon investigation, it was found that they did not have any valid visa or documents to stay in India and were staying here beyond their stipulated time limit. The captured Nigerian nationals have been identified as Chidi Pascal Anyigbo, Felix Ikoma, Solomon Chidinma Odo, Chibueze Innocent Chukwu, Chinedu Kingsley Ogbu, Solomon Chidera Achulu and Chinedu Daniel Okechukwu.
After conducting medical examination of all the seven arrested citizens, the police presented them before the FRRO. In view of their lack of documents and illegal migration, FRRO has issued orders to send them back to their country. At present all of them have been sent to the detention center. DCP Ankit Singh clarified that this campaign against illegal immigrants who are a burden on resources and involved in suspicious activities will continue.
