827 Crore Refund, 4500 Bags Yet To Be Delivered; Trouble Still Continues On IndiGo Flights

Digital Desk, New Delhi. Trouble continues on Indigo flights. Even on the seventh day after the disruption, operations have not fully returned to normal. The airline is struggling to restore normalcy after hundreds of flights were canceled since last Tuesday, affecting millions of passengers.

The Civil Aviation Ministry said that about 500 Indigo flights were canceled on Monday. On this day the company operated 1802 flights. 1650 flights were operated on Sunday. The company typically operates 2300 flights per day.

Bengaluru and Delhi airports are most affected

Delhi and Bengaluru airports were most affected by the cancellation of flights. 143 flights were canceled in Delhi. Of these, there were 60 arrival and 83 departure flights. 150 flights were canceled from Bengaluru airport. 98 and 112 flights were canceled at Mumbai and Hyderabad airports respectively. By the way, the company says that the situation is gradually becoming normal. It was told by Indigo two days ago that the situation would become normal only in five-seven days.

Rs 827 crore refunded, 4500 bags yet to be delivered

According to IANS, IndiGo, which is facing intense scrutiny from the government, on Monday said that it has so far refunded Rs 827 crore to passengers and is in the process of returning the remaining amount by December 15. 9000 luggage of passengers were stranded. Of these, 4500 bags have been delivered to the concerned passengers. Preparations are underway to deliver the remaining 4500 bags in the next 36 hours. IndiGo also claimed that it has arranged for more than 9500 hotel rooms and about 10000 cabs/buses between December 1 and 7 for the convenience of stranded customers.

Market capital reduced by Rs 39 thousand crores

IndiGo is also having to suffer the consequences of its arbitrariness financially. Indigo shares have fallen by more than 17 percent in the last seven days. Due to this, there was a decrease of $ 4.3 billion (about Rs 38,700 crore) in the market capitalization of the company. On Monday, a decline of 8.28 percent was recorded in the company's shares. The price of the company's shares was Rs 5790.5 per unit on December 1, which came down to Rs 4926.55 per unit on December 8. Shares of another domestic airline SpiceJet closed at Rs 32.50 per unit with a gain of 4.47 per cent on Monday.
