9248 posts vacant from constable to DCP in Delhi Police
Digital Desk, New Delhi. There are a total of 9,248 vacancies in Delhi Police for various posts ranging from Constable to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and Additional DCP. At present the strength of personnel in the police force is 92,044.
This information was shared by Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai in a written reply to a question asked by Trinamool Congress MP Prakash Chik Baraik in the Rajya Sabha. According to the data, the sanctioned number of DCP and Additional DCP posts is 60, out of which 13 posts are vacant.
In the junior administrative category of Additional DCP, 15 posts are vacant against the sanctioned strength of 54 officers. At the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) level, out of the sanctioned 346 posts, 125 posts are vacant.
There are 1,453 sanctioned posts of Inspector in Delhi Police, out of which there are 108 vacancies, while among Sub-Inspectors, out of the sanctioned 8,087 posts, 1,039 posts are vacant. There are 7,320 sanctioned posts of Assistant Sub-Inspectors in the police force, out of which 300 posts are currently vacant. At the head constable level, out of the sanctioned 23,724 posts, 3,057 posts are vacant. Similarly, there are 4,591 vacancies in constables out of the sanctioned 50,946 posts.
Rai further said that ''The Government has kept in mind that vacancies are a dynamic process, arising due to retirement, promotion, resignation and other reasons, and filling them is a continuous process.''
When asked about the post-wise total sanctioned strength and vacancies under Delhi Police, the Minister of State in his reply said, "The information about vacant posts is regularly given to the recruitment agencies, and appointments are made after the recruitment process is completed."
