Digital Desk, New Delhi. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi targeted the BJP-led NDA government at the Center over the VB-G RAM G Act and alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has single-handedly launched a devastating attack on the states and the poor like demonetization.

Addressing a press conference, Rahul said that Congress will oppose the government's action and expressed confidence that the entire opposition will support it.

"The Prime Minister single-handedly scrapped MGNREGA without asking his cabinet, without studying the matter. We are going to protest against it. I am sure the entire opposition will be with us," he said.

'Save MGNREGA Campaign' on 5th January

Rahul Gandhi said, referring to Congress' 'Save MGNREGA Campaign', which it plans to launch across the country on January 5. Claiming that the UPA-era MGNREGA was not just a work program but a development framework that was appreciated across the world, he claimed that its cancellation was an attack on the rights-based approach and the federal structure of the country.

A devastating attack on poor people- Rahul

He said, "This is a devastating attack on the states and the poor people, which the Prime Minister has done single-handedly, just like demonetization. The PM single-handedly scrapped MGNREGA without asking his Cabinet, without studying the matter."

VB-G RAM G Bill replaced MGNREGA

The VB-G RAMG Bill, which replaces the 20-year-old MGNREGA, was recently passed in Parliament during the winter session of Parliament amid strong opposition. The new Act provides for 125 days of wage employment for rural workers.
