Jagran correspondent, Saharanpur. The villagers surrounded the police who had gone to arrest the wanted woman smuggler in village Ghatampur and freed the accused from custody. By the time police reached the spot, all the accused had fled. Neeraj Panwar, in-charge of Ambehata post of Nakur police station, reached the village on Saturday to arrest the accused woman Afsana, who was absconding in the NDPS case.
Here the villagers created a ruckus. There was an argument with the outpost in-charge and the accused escaped after being surrounded by the police. Someone circulated the video on internet media. In this, pushing and shoving between police and people and snatching of goods are seen.
The accused absconded from home
After this the police force reached the spot, but by then all the accused had fled the house. The relatives allege that the police entered the house, vandalized it and misbehaved with the women. In this case, CO Nakur Ruchi Gupta says that the police had reached village Ghatampur to arrest the accused woman.
He is wanted in an NDPS case. During this, people protested and pushed the team and freed the accused woman from police custody and made her escape. The accused are being identified through the footage. After which a case will be registered.
