Jagran correspondent, Ghaziabad. The possibility of large-scale fraud has come to light in the income certificates being prepared for admission in private schools under the Right to Education (RTE). After receiving 17 complaints from Ghaziabad School Association and parents, District Magistrate Ravindra Mandar has taken the matter seriously and ordered investigation.

About 10 thousand income certificates issued in the last one month from Loni, Modinagar and Sadar tehsils have been brought under scrutiny. The District Magistrate has directed the accountants to go to the spot and verify all the sources of income of the applicants.

It is alleged in the complaints that many parents, whose annual income is more than Rs 1 lakh and who have cars and other facilities, are availing the benefits of RTE on the basis of fake certificates.

An average of 10,500 income certificates are being made every month.

Basic Education Officer OP Yadav said that if fake certificates are found in the investigation, a report will be lodged against the concerned parents. According to the data, an average of 10,500 income certificates are being issued every month in the three tehsils and more than one lakh certificates have been issued since April 2025.

Meanwhile, a three-member district level committee has been formed to select eligible children for 25 percent free seats under RTE, so that transparency can be ensured in the process.
