Jagran correspondent, Ghaziabad. The police came to know about the fraud in the name of passport verification in Bhojpur police station area in December itself. Despite this, the police failed to find out who were the people who had obtained the passports. The police had come to know in December itself that the policemen themselves were behind the entire fraud.
Despite this, the officials were negligent and did not take action against the culprits. Now it has been eight days since the case was filed. On Monday, the Crime Branch team took the statements of the accused who were in jail. The police is now busy searching for suspended constable Deepak Kumar, the then Munshi of Bhojpur police station.
On Monday, the Crime Branch team took the statements of postman Arun Kumar, accused of passport fraud, agents Vivek Gandhi, Prakash Subba, two applicants Amandeep Singh and his mother Satwant Kaur, lodged in Dasna District Jail. Police need to interrogate agent Vivek Gandhi and postman Arun Kumar because instead of delivering the passport to the address, the postman took two thousand rupees from the passport and handed it over to the agent. Whereas agent Vivek Gandhi, in collusion with the police and postal department, had got 22 passports issued on fake addresses.
The police team has now started searching for the suspended Munshi constable Deepak Kumar of Bhojpur police station, who was doing passport verification sitting in the police station itself. Deepak Kumar is accused of completing the verification on the tablet using the IDs of eight inspectors. It was because of this investigation that the passports of the accused were issued.
Secrets will be revealed only after the arrest of suspended constable
Police has started arresting suspended constable Deepak Kumar. If he is not arrested, the police can also declare a reward against him. Police officials say that only when the accused is caught, it will be known how much money he has committed in the fraud. However, the constable escaped due to the negligence of the police officers. If the fraud had been detected in time and he had been arrested, he would not have absconded.
Statements of the accused have been taken in jail. Agent Vivek Gandhi and postman Arun Kumar will be taken on police custody remand for questioning. Police is busy searching for the absconding constable.
