Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. Antarmana Acharya Prasanna Sagar Ji Maharaj said that both yoga and fasting are invaluable gifts of Indian culture. Yoga is a means of purification of the body and fasting is a means of purification of the soul. Yoga, meditation and fasting are the basis of Indian culture which instills health, restraint and self-power in life.

He was addressing the grand occasion of “Every Month-One Fast” campaign on the last day of the two-day International Janmangal Sammelan held at Bharat Mandapam. On his inspiring call, a large number of people from all over the country took a pledge to fast together and through the Miss Kaal campaign, joined this public awareness and called for a new global consciousness.

More than four lakh 38 thousand people had missed the call for fasting together on Saturday.

Urge to celebrate “World Fasting Day”

On this occasion, Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra also took a pledge to fast every month and said that ascetic seekers are the true guides of our lives, who have made the practice of penance, yoga and fasting a medium for public welfare. His blessings provide new direction and strength to the nation.

Amidst the mass fast of the devotees present at the conference, Acharya Prasanna Sagar urged the Central Government to accept the proposal, urging December 13 to be celebrated as “World Fasting Day”.
