In the case of death of a farmer after getting hit by a high tension line, the clerk of the electricity department has been suspended for embezzling Rs 1.48 lakh from the financial assistance given by the department, while it has been recommended to remove the accused advocate from the departmental panel.
Five days ago, during the Farmer's Day organized at Vikas Bhawan, Akanksha, a resident of village Simra Boripuri of Faridpur tehsil area, complained to DM Avinash Singh that her husband Navneet Kumar had died after getting hit by a high tension line.
He was given Rs 5.93 lakh as compensation, but the clerk and the advocate took Rs 1.48 lakh from him.
The DM had summoned the Chief Engineer. Within two hours the amount was returned to the victim. Also, a three-member committee was formed under the chairmanship of Superintending Engineer Rural Gyanendra Singh and investigation was started.
After receiving the investigation report, on Saturday, Chief Engineer Gyan Prakash suspended the found guilty Executive Assistant, Power Distribution Division-Baheri Sameeruddin on the charges of gross negligence in discharging his duties and responsibilities, violation of Government Servant Conduct Rules-1956 and tarnishing the image of the department by the said act and attached him to the office of Executive Engineer, Power Distribution Division, Amla.
Also, in view of Advocate Shiv Kumar Sharma being prima facie guilty in this case and tarnishing the image of the department, a letter has been sent to the headquarters with a strong recommendation to terminate the service of the departmental panel.
