The encroachers were occupying the land transferred from Khutar range of Shahjahanpur district to Pilibhit Tiger Reserve and growing wheat, sugarcane and mustard crops for decades. On the orders of the court, the Forest Department bulldozed 19.04 hectares of forest land in the presence of a joint team of police and administrative officials. After demarcation, the forest department team plowed the standing crop with tractors. The land was captured by erecting pillars.

In the year 2019, 813 hectares of forest of Khutar Range of Shahjahanpur was transferred to Navadiya Banki Vet of PTR and 932 hectares of forest was transferred to Nazirganj Vet of Haripur Range. Dozens of people of Fagunihai village have been farming for decades by occupying 19.04 hectares of forest department land.

To avoid departmental action, most of the occupants have taken refuge in the court. After the transfer of forest land, the PTR administration was making efforts to free this land from encroachment. Last ten days ago, a joint team of Forest Department and Revenue Department reached the spot and conducted joint survey and demarcation.

On the orders of the court on Tuesday, a joint team including Social Forestry DFO Bharat Kumar DK, SDO Ramesh Chauhan, Shahjahanpur Tehsil Puwayan SDM Chitra Nirwal, Puwayan Police Area Officer reached the spot. The team started demarcation by operating three bulldozers.

The sudden presence of heavy police force and forest department created panic among the occupants. Dozens of people gathered in the neighborhood as bulldozers were moving on the crops. Forest Department and Revenue officials talked to them and pacified them. After this, the crops planted on forest land by illegal encroachment were plowed with the help of tractors.

Anticipating a dispute, videography was done with the help of drones. During the action, the villagers were stopped due to fear of dispute. After the completion of the action, the Forest Department placed pillars on the land and took possession of it.

Forest department will do plantation on encroachment free land

The natural habitat of wildlife that was destroyed by encroachers decades ago will be repopulated. For this, the forest department officials freed the land from encroachment on Tuesday. Plantation will be done on 19.05 hectares of forest land freed from encroachment by the Forest Department. With this, wildlife will be able to roam freely in this area again.

58 hectares of land in Navadiya Banki recaptured

In Navadiya Banki Veet of Deoria range of PTR, four occupants have been growing crops by occupying 58 hectares of forest department land for 45 years. In August 2022, the Supreme Court had canceled the surveillance of farmer Ratan Singh. Order was given to register the Forest Department land on the Gata number of Old Khatauni on the basis of first cycle consolidation.

The joint team of forest officials of Pilibhit and Shahjahanpur had claimed to take possession of the land by demarcating it with bulldozers. Van Bhoomi had sent the report to the government that the land was free from encroachment. But the occupants again took refuge in the court. Due to the negligence of departmental officials, the forest land was re-encroached upon.

Forest Department land has been freed from encroachment. By planting trees on this land, the natural habitat of wildlife will be returned again. Action against illegal occupation will continue in future also.
