Action to demolish the illegal house of a drug smuggler.

Jagran correspondent, Bathinda. Under the mission “War Against Drugs” of Punjab Government, Bathinda Police and Civil Administration have taken a tough stance against drug smugglers and taken major action. The building built illegally by alleged drug smuggler Balwinder Singh alias Kaka in Pakka Dhobiana Basti located at Thekewala Chowk was demolished by running a bulldozer.

This action was taken amidst heavy police security. Police officials said that a case is already registered against Balwinder Singh alias Kaka under the NDPS Act. Apart from this, his son Harpreet Singh is also named in serious criminal cases. Two separate cases including assault are registered against Harpreet Singh in Civil Lines police station.

Several notices were issued by the administration to remove the illegal construction, but the encroachment was not given up, after which this action was taken on the orders of the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate.

14 buildings have been demolished in Bathinda

SP City Narinder Singh said that Bathinda Police's campaign against drug smuggling is continuing. He said that till now Yellow Claw has been launched on 14 illegal buildings in the district, which were linked to the illegal activities of drug smugglers.

According to police data, since March 1, 2025, 1899 cases have been registered under the anti-narcotics campaign and 2802 accused have been sent to jail. These also include 76 big smugglers. At the same time, from the year 2023 till now, assets worth about Rs 14 crore of drug smugglers have been frozen.

The police and administration have appealed to the general public to cooperate in this campaign against drugs. If drugs are seen being sold or smuggled anywhere, information can be given on helpline number 97791-00200 or 91155-02252. The identity of the person giving information will be kept completely confidential.
