Digital Desk, New Delhi. Former Odisha MLA Mohammad Mokim expelled after making public a letter written to Sonia Gandhi. In this letter he had raised questions on the party leadership. The Congress leadership, considering this to be indiscipline and accusing Mokim of working under the influence of BJP's thinking, expelled him from the party.

However, this is not the first time that a leader has been expelled from the Congress or has himself left the party. Since Modi's government came to power at the Center in 2014, many Congress leaders have left the party and joined BJP or joined some other party. The party has suffered the most due to the departure of these leaders.

Actually, the history of suppressing dissent in Congress is old. In the year 2020, the same happened with 23 leaders (G-23) who wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi demanding collective and transparent leadership in the party. Some leaders were expelled, while many left the party in despair.

Which big leaders separated from Congress in the last 11 years?

What was the impact on Congress?

With the departure of these leaders, Congress became weaker in many states. The political strength of the party continued to decline in states like North East, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Maharashtra, due to which the party gradually became dependent on alliances.
