Digital Desk, New Delhi. When the police, which is responsible for the security of Ahmedabad city and the safety of its citizens, turns into a predator, then public trust is shaken. In Paldi area of Ahmedabad, a head constable crossed all limits of discipline and raised his hand on a woman in the middle of the road, creating a huge uproar.
After the video of this incident went viral on social media and the police were in trouble everywhere, finally the system took action and the responsible head constable was immediately suspended.
What was the whole incident?
According to the information received, Head Constable Jayanti Jhala, on duty at Paldi Police Station, was checking the vehicles. During this time, while changing the ID card from a woman, the card fell down. The policeman lost his temper over such a simple thing.
Instead of behaving sensibly with a common citizen, Jayanti Jhala, dressed in khaki uniform, started threatening the woman and slapped her on the face. This video of the police insulting a woman on the middle of the road was recorded by someone on a mobile phone and spread like wildfire.

Giving information about this matter to the media, DCP Bhavnaben Patel said that breaking of discipline in the police department will not be tolerated, hence the head constable has been immediately suspended. The DCP candidly admitted, “I think the police constable has committed some mistakes.”
Case registered against woman
On the other hand, the police has also taken legal action against the woman. According to the police, the woman was driving on the wrong side and was disrupting traffic rules. The traffic police station has registered a case against the woman under sections 281, 221, 296(b), 351(1) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 177 and 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
The incident took a shocking turn when the victim reached Paldi police station to complain about the ill-treatment meted to her. It is alleged that the other policemen present there were reluctant to take his complaint. However, Ahmedabad Police has clarified on 'X' (Twitter) that the woman had not initially complained, which is recorded in the station diary. But later the woman filed an application and now investigation has been started in that direction.
Home Ministry notice and investigation
After going viral on social media, the matter reached the state Home Ministry. After receiving instructions from Gandhinagar to take strict action, senior officials have come into action. Instead of maintaining the slogan that the police is a friend of the public, when such cases happen, the image of the entire police force gets tarnished.
The police are also investigating whether the woman has ever behaved like this with the police before. This case is once again raising questions on the training of the police and their behavior with the public.
