Jagran correspondent, Dumariyaganj. Project Alankar has brought new hope for the dilapidated non-government aided secondary schools of the district. Till now this facility was limited only to government secondary schools, but by changing the rules, the government has decided to provide financial assistance to aided schools also.
Depending on the number of students, these schools will now be able to get assistance ranging from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 1.25 crore. The District School Inspector's office has received instructions in this regard from the government level.
A total of 48 aided secondary schools are running in the district, in which about 45 thousand students are studying. Under this scheme, financial assistance will be provided for building repairs, reconstruction of classrooms, development of toilets, drinking water and other basic facilities.
Under Project Alankar, aided schools will also be able to prepare proposals and apply. The proposals received will be examined and sent for further processing.
Help up to Rs 25 lakh for 500 students
District School Inspector Arun Kumar said that according to the revised rules of Project Alankar, priority will be given to 40 year old dilapidated schools. The state government will bear 75 percent of the total cost of the scheme, while 25 percent will have to be raised by the concerned management.
Schools with student strength up to 500 will get assistance up to Rs 25 lakh, while schools with more than 2000 students can get a grant of up to Rs 1.25 crore.
District level committee will test
To get financial assistance, schools will have to apply with the proposal. These proposals will be examined and forwarded by a committee constituted under the chairmanship of DM. CDO, Executive Engineer Public Works Department and Finance and Accounts Officer (Secondary Education) will be included in the committee as members.
