Municipal Corporation Faridabad has intensified preparations for the upcoming cleanliness survey. file photo

Jagran correspondent, Faridabad. The Municipal Corporation has started preparations for the cleanliness survey to be held next month. When the cleanliness survey results come, the city does not get good marks because garbage is found everywhere. Also, proper disposal of waste is also a big problem. Not collecting wet and dry waste separately is also a big reason. In view of this, the Municipal Corporation is now adopting a strict stance.

The corporation has decided to take action against vendors as well as building owners who do not separate wet and dry waste. Different teams will be formed by the corporation. The responsibility of the vendor will be decided. Registration of any vendor who does not collect wet and dry waste separately will be cancelled. However, the corporation has not made it clear how much fine will be imposed for not segregating garbage.

860 tonnes of garbage is generated every day

The cleanliness survey team will come to Faridabad in March. 860 tonnes of garbage is generated every day across the city. Out of this, only 350 tonnes of waste is disposed. The rest is dumped elsewhere, and some reaches the Bandhwari plant. The corporation has installed garbage disposal plants in Pratapgarh and Mawai villages. But, both the plants are not able to fulfill their capacity.

The main reason for this is that the waste that vendors dump in the corporation's dumping plant is not separated. Employees have to work harder to separate garbage, and it also takes time. Therefore, the corporation is appealing to separate wet and dry waste.

Registrations of vendors will also be cancelled.

55 vendors have registered with the Municipal Corporation. The corporation has also warned them that if they do not collect wet and dry waste separately, their registration will be cancelled. Since most of the vendors' vehicles do not have the required separation system, the waste gets mixed and sent to the dumping station.

The agency will start work in a month

The corporation is preparing to appoint an agency for door-to-door garbage collection. But, till now no agency has agreed to work on the corporation's terms. Therefore, the corporation has canceled the tender five times. Nevertheless, the corporation claims that an agency will be appointed by the beginning of March. With this, vendors will be able to work together with the agency.

Building owners will have to separate wet and dry waste. Now the responsibility of the vendors as well as the building owner has also been fixed. Our aim is to achieve better score in cleanliness survey.
