Jagran correspondent, Badaun. This time, SP is creating new equations in Shekhupur assembly seat, which till now was between two families. SP has also indicated a new strategy for this seat which has majority of Yadav Muslim and Maurya voters. Although the cards may not have been opened openly till now, the repeated turning of a former minister, who has a secular image in the politics of the district, towards Shekupur shows that something is brewing inside.
Another reason for this is believed to be that recently a public representative had a heart disease related problem, after which the National President has advised him to take rest. After delimitation in 2012, Shekhupur seat was formed by abolishing Ushait assembly seat.
After Ushait being the assembly seat and then becoming Shekhupur seat, in the last four elections, it was dominated by two political families living in the same locality. In the four elections between the Yadav and Shakya families, both won twice. In these twenty years of politics, both these families also worked to hand over the legacy of their politics to the new generation.
The Shakya family moved towards its next generation, whereas in the Yadav family, at present, their third generation won the elections and became MLA. This family, which was at the center of the district's politics, is now preparing for the 2027 elections. Both of them are considering their tickets as confirmed.
But amidst all this, SP's new strategy started appearing. It started directly after some indication from the high command or the local leaders were the brains behind it. This is not clear yet, but the discussion is quite intense. Political sources say that this time SP is thinking of contesting someone else on this seat.
This is the reason why a former minister has been knocking repeatedly in this area for the last few days. Even during SIR, he organized many camps in the entire area and worked to get voter forms made. Now it will be known in the coming days which way SP's politics is going to turn on Shekupur seat.
