Digital Desk, New Delhi. A case has been registered against four persons in Maharashtra's Thane district for forming fake GST-registered companies and claiming input tax credit (ITC) of more than Rs 22.06 crore.

Based on a complaint lodged by an official of the state Goods and Services Tax (SGST) department, Kalyan police on Thursday registered a case against Dynamic Enterprises owner Nikhil Gaikwad, Noor Mohammad Wasim Pinjari, Navnath Sukharya Gharat and Sarfaraz and some others, police said on Sunday.

"Between April and August this year, the accused prepared false documents for a company and submitted this false information to the government to obtain a registration certificate under the GST Act," an MFC police station official said. The accused allegedly created eight fake companies and were successful in claiming ITC of Rs 22.06 crore, the officer said.

No arrest made in the case

A case has been registered against the accused under sections of organized crime (Section 111), criminal breach of trust (Section 316), cheating (Section 318), and dishonest or fraudulent removal or concealment of property (Section 320). A case has also been registered under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, but no arrest has been made yet.
