PTI, Ahmedabad. Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting of cooperation ministers from different states and union territories to discuss strengthening the cooperative framework and promoting the rural economy.

A statement said the ministers present at the meeting discussed in detail the use of technology, bringing transparency in the cooperative sector and doubling the income of farmers through cooperative societies. Amit Shah also has the Home Ministry.

He also performed 'e-dedication' and laid the foundation stone of different projects worth Rs 265.30 crore in Gujarat. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, State Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi, Union Minister of State for Cooperation Krishna Pal Gurjar were present in the inaugural session.

The statement said that in order to fulfill the vision of the Union Ministry of Cooperation for 'Prosperity through Cooperation', a high-level brainstorming meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shah with the cooperation ministers of all the states and union territories of the country at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. During this, Shah also released a special report on the better working practices of different states in the field of cooperation and the International Year of Cooperation 2025.

The projects for which Amit Shah laid the foundation stone include the newly constructed ethanol distillery plant of Narmada Khand Industries Cooperative Board, a 30 MW power generation plant, organic potash plant, two warehouses, Amul's whey protein concentrate powder plant and an Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC).

A special exhibition was also organized during the event, in which about 20 big cooperative organizations like National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Amul, IFFCO and Banas Dairy displayed their latest services and products, the statement said.
