Entertainment Desk, New Delhi. Famous filmmaker Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra died on 13 February 2026 at the age of 84. He was suffering from Parkinson's disease for the last 10-12 years. The news of his demise has created a wave of mourning in the film and television industry.
The family confirmed that his cremation will take place today, February 13, 2026, at 4:30 pm at the Hindu Cremation Ground in Pawan Hans, Mumbai. His demise has caused a great loss to the Sagar family and the Indian television industry.

The family made an official announcement
The family issued an official statement expressing deep grief, 'We are very sad to announce that our beloved father, Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra has passed away. The cremation took place on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 4:30 PM at Hindu Cremation Ground (Pawan Hans).
The family has appealed to the people to pray for the peace of the departed soul. The Sagar family also thanked all the well-wishers and fans.
Who was Anand Sagar?
Anand Sagar was the son of great filmmaker Ramanand Sagar. Ramanand Sagar created the famous TV serial Ramayan in 1987, which changed the face of Indian television. This serial became so popular that during its broadcast there was silence on the streets across the country. Anand Sagar carried forward the legacy of his father and played an important role in the production of many mythological and religious serials under the banner of Sagar Arts.

Anand Sagar also made an important contribution to the new version of Ramayana made in 2008.
