Complete interest and penalty waiver in OTS

Jagran correspondent, Patna. In the light of the notification of the Urban Development and Housing Department, Government of Bihar, the Municipal Corporation has implemented the Property Tax Incentive Scheme – 2025. The scheme is effective from November 28 and will run till March 31, 2026. Under this, 100 percent interest and penalty on pending property tax is being waived. Taxpayers have to deposit only the basic tax amount in lump sum. The entire dues will be considered cleared as soon as the principal amount is deposited. The scheme has been implemented as One Time Settlement (OTS).

5,511 people got themselves determined

According to the Municipal Corporation, till now 5,511 taxpayers have got their holding number self-determined. Patliputra zone leads with 1,424 applications. There have been 1,263 applications in Azimabad and 1,024 in Nutan Rajdhani.

788 people applied in Kankarbagh and 531 people applied in Patna City. Bankipur zone has recorded the least number of 481 self-determinations. According to officials, awareness among people about the scheme is increasing.

All types of properties included

Residential, commercial and industrial properties are benefiting from the scheme. Institutional and central and state government properties are also covered. Exemption is being given on the dues for the financial year 2025-26 and earlier.

Taxpayers with cases pending in court or tribunal can also avail the benefit. For this, written proof of withdrawal of the case will have to be given. This discount will not be available after the prescribed period.

Clear provision for self-determination

Those who have not yet been self-determined can also join the scheme. Residential property will be determined from the electricity connection date or notification date. Whichever date is later will be considered effective.

For non-residential property the GST registration date will be the basis. Or the notification date of the municipal body will be considered applicable. The assessment will be done as per the standards set by the Municipal Corporation.

Action will be taken on wrong information

Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena has appealed to the taxpayers for timely payment. He said that the payments made under the scheme will be investigated. Exemption will be canceled for hiding facts or giving wrong information.
